Bump Style: A Slip Dress for the Summer Heat

London has been experiencing some unnatural summer weather these past couple weeks.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for 80 degrees and sunshine.

But a city like London just isn’t properly equipped to deal with such heat.

Read: they don’t believe in air conditioning.

Or at least it’s not a common amenity.

Which is totally understandable, since it typically doesn’t get that hot……until it does and you’re sitting on the floor with a fan blowing full blast into your face {and other areas we won’t mention} questioning your life decisions.

Global warming is fake news? Sure thing, Mr. President…. 😐

At any rate, it’s days like this when you want as little as possible touching your skin.

But walking around naked is out of the question. And as we’re nowhere near a beach, a bikini top and short shorts would probably be just as awkward.

So what’s a pregnant city girl on the verge of boiling to do?

Enter this slip dress.

A 90’s style trend that has made a comeback over the last year. I’ve found the slip dress to be the perfect antidote to a hot and heavy summer day.

Style Tip: Opt for midi or full length styles for a more modern take. Or if you do go for a mini, layer it over a t-shirt for a more “city-cool” rather than “come-to-bed” vibes.

I snagged this one from Shein, which is slowly becoming my new jam for maternity clothes.

As long as you opt for their looser fitting pieces and size up. More cute and trendy maternity clothes for the win!

While it’s cool and breezy for the summer, I could also see this being a great transition piece come fall.

Layer a turtleneck underneath or chunky crop sweater over top – cozy and chic!

Who knew the slip dress could be such a versatile piece to have in your closet.
